DC PROTEST August 12, 2006
Washington D.C, Aug 12— Thousands marched near the White House to protest Israeli assaults on Gaza and Lebanon and the American occupation of Iraq. Activists, community leaders, and an overwhelming majority of Arab families and youth protested with signs, banners and their voices. Protesters came from all over the U.S., mainly by bus from cities like New York and Detroit. Many expressed their support of Palestinian, Lebanese and Iraqi resistance to Israeli and American aggression. For several hours, all that could be heard from the heart of the nation’s capital were shuts of, “Free, free Palestine” and “Long live Lebanon.” --Maymanah Farhat
